Pervert abused two girls

A paedophile from Cornwall abused two girls and then threatened to shoot them or their family members if they told anyone.

It took 40 years, but perverted William Blight, 80, has finally been brought to justice.

Blight, of Melvill Road in Falmouth, appeared at Truro Crown Court to learn his fate after being previously convicted by a jury of nine indecent assaults and two indecency with a child charges.

Prosecuting barrister Nigel Wraith described to the court how the abuse was carried out against two underage girls in the 1970s and 1980s.

The offences included Blight placing his fingers on and inside the victims’ vaginas, placing one of this hands on his penis, rubbing himself on top of them causing pain and trying to put his tongue in one of their mouths telling her “it was how adults kiss”.

Blight also masturbated towards one of the victims.

Sentencing Blight to nine years in custody and a further year on licence, Judge Robert Linford described him as “an offender of particular concern”.

He said: “You denied what happened and as a consequence these two women were forced to relive what you did. The victim impact statements set out in harrowing detail the effect the abuse had on their lives.

Love note paedophile finally faces justice nearly two decades later

A predatory paedophile has been handed a long prison term following his conviction for the sexual touching of a young girl.

Edward Coleman, 44, abused the girl nearly 20 years ago and then sent her love notes years later.

Coleman, now of Surrey, was convicted following a trial at Truro Crown Court of three sexual assaults of a girl under 13, assault by penetration and five counts of sexual activity with a child.

Prosecuting the case, Heather Hope told the jury that it involves touching of the chest and genitals, digital penetration, oral sex and imitating sex acts, offences committed in the St Austell area.

Miss Hope said that during some of the abuse the defendant “smelt of alcohol” and that the complainant would try to get away when Coleman tried to get her to masturbate him.

Miss Hope went on to graphically describe how Coleman sexually abused the victim.

Miss Hope said the abuse eventually came to an end when the complainant stood up to Coleman, although he continued to photograph her and continue to express an interest in her.

Coleman later sent the complainant Facebook messages which included hearts carved into trees with their initials and suggested they spent a night together in Newquay.

The abuse was eventually reported when the complainant spoke to a woman in a pub before finding the courage to tell her partner, mother and then the police.

On behalf of Coleman, Ed Bailey said he was an otherwise decent, hard working man who worked mainly as a lorry driver. Coleman was said to be in bad health and someone who has made significant charitable donations.

Sentencing Coleman, Judge Robert Linford said he perpetrated years of abuse on the victim.

Coleman was jailed for 10 years with a further year to be served on licence after release.

Royal Navy paedophile from Cornwall filmed his abuse of young girl

A depraved paedophile who worked in the Royal Navy filmed himself abusing a young girl so he could relive the moment over and over again, a court has heard.

Philip Mitchell, 32, was also found in possession of a catalogue of images showing young children being abused.

Mitchell, from the Redruth area, appeared at Truro Crown Court to be sentenced after pleading guilty to assault by penetration of a young girl, two sexual assaults of the same victim, producing an indecent image of a child and three possession of indecent images of children charges.

In total, Mitchell was convicted of two counts of sexual assault on a child under 13 by penetration, two counts of sexual assault on a child under 13, one count of causing or inciting a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity, two counts of making indecent photographs of a child, two counts of taking indecent photographs of a child and one count of possessing an extreme pornographic image.

The young victim in the case was under the age of 16.

Prosecuting the case, Emily Pitts described how Mitchell abused the victim in various locations.

The victim said she didn’t like it and had asked him to stop but he carried on anyway. Chillingly, Mitchell also told the girl to touch herself ‘when she wanted to feel happy’.

Mitchell’s devices were found to contain indecent images spanning all three categories, but worse still, footage of him penetrating the victim and encouraging her to do so to herself.

Mitchell was arrested at his Navy base in Plymouth.

Sentencing Mitchell, Judge Simon Carr said Mitchell filmed the abuse so he could relive it over and over again, and that he had deliberately searched out indecent images of children.

The effect on the young victim was said to be devastating, with her suffering regular nightmares, wetting herself and becoming aggressive.

Mitchell was jailed for 11 years with an extra year on his licence period.

Camelford ex-postman boasted to ‘girl’ about previous sexual activity with a child

A paedophile former postman has avoided prison despite boasting to who he believed to be a 14-year-old girl about how he’d engaged in sexual activity with children before.

Andrew Vince, 52, requested a picture of the ‘girl’ so he could ejaculate onto it before offering to drive to the other end of the country to meet her

Vince, of Helstone near Camelford, appeared at Truro Crown Court for sentence having pleaded guilty to producing a Class B drug, attempting to cause a child to watch images of sexual activity and attempted sexual communications with a child.

Prosecuting the case, Ramsay Quaife said that in 2018 Vince was using an internet chatroom speaking to he thought was a 14-year-old girl called Phoebe. Phoebe was in fact an undercover police officer.

Vince was using the chatroom under the username 51paedo and said he was a 51-year-old called Martin from Cornwall.

Vince told Phoebe he liked to have sex with children and when Phoebe asked him if he’d met girls before he replied “yes, she was 10 and sucked me in the car”.

During the chat Vince sent Phoebe images of adults having sex and Vince told her he’d like to f*** her.

He then suggested he drove to Newcastle to meet her before requesting a photo so he could use it as a masturbation aid.

When police attended Vince’s address in 2020 they found 20 cannabis plants at the rear of the property.

Vince previously worked as a postman in his local area before being dismissed.

Judge Robert Linford, believing Vince can be better rehabilitated in the community, sentenced him to a three year community order with accredited sexual offending programme as directed by the Probation Officer.

He was made subject of a 10 year sexual harm prevention order and must sign the sex offenders’ register for five years.

Vince was fined £250 for the cannabis.

He was sentenced to three years and four months in prison at Peterborough Crown Court. He was also handed an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO).
