Wooburn Green man downloaded thousands of child abuse images

A Wooburn Green man who previously served in the Royal Navy downloaded thousands of child porn images because he suffering with depression and going through “turmoil”, a court heard – as he is given a suspended sentence by the judge.

John O’Reilly, of Meare Estate, was arrested on July 12 last year when police raided his home after they received a tip off that indecent images of children had been downloaded on his mobile phone and Apple MacBook computer.

He appeared at Aylesbury Crown Court on Friday, July 26, accused of downloading 708 category A images – the most severe – 1,549 category B images and 2,092 category C images, and distributing six images – one of category A, one of category B and four of category C.

The court heard how in conversations over messaging app Kik, the 53-year-old told others he “loved the young teens”.

Prosecutor John Reilly said: “Devices including a phone and computer were used in various ways to download images and store them. From time to time he had viewed these images. He has gone back to look at them on a number of occasions.”

Judge Catherine Tulk said the crimes were “serious offences” but gave him credit for pleading guilty.

She said: “When police executed their warrant, 4,349 inaccessible images were found – by that I mean they had already been deleted.

“From examination it was clear that they had been saved and had been looked at on several occasions and using Kik, distribution had occurred. You had desisted in this behaviour before the police arrived.

“I have read the various character references and I am impressed by the steps you have taken to try and address your offending behaviour. I will give you full credit for your guilty plea.”

Judge Tulk jailed him for a total of 16 months, suspended for two years, and ordered him to take part in 41 rehabilitation activity days, 120 hours of unpaid work, and to pay £200 in costs.

He will also be subject to a sexual harm prevention order has been put in place for 10 years.

Edward Attwell – High Wycombe

Paedo policeman hid his laptop computer in a smelly cat litter tray full of excrement

A policeman hid his laptop computer in a smelly cat litter tray full of excrement when detectives knocked on his door to confront him over child sexual abuse images, a judge heard.

Police constable Edward Attwell, of Mayhew Crescent, High Wycombe, also reset his mobile phone to factory settings as officers, armed with a search warrant, continued knocking at his front door.

The detectives, who knew he had been using internet chatroom, did not look in the disgusting cat litter tray on their initial search but found the laptop when they returned and discovered evidence which proved the 43-year-old married officer had shared an indecent picture of a young girl.

Attwell, a serving officer with the Metropolitan Police, was given a suspended sentence by a judge at Aylesbury Crown Court after she conceded that his child porn “fantasy” lifestyle had not involved his work as a police officer.

However, she was told that he was “stressed and withered” by the pressures of being a policeman.

Prosecutor Paul Fairley told the court Attwell was a serving police officer when a Rape and Serious Sexual Offences (RASSO) team received intelligence in connection with the officer.

In a dramatic raid on his family home in High Wycombe, detectives knocked at his door but received no answer for 30 minutes and made inquiries with neighbours, who rang his wife, the court heard.

Mr Fairley told the judge that Attwell’s wife returned to the family address and let them into the home – where officers found the defendant with his children, in a state of visible distress.

After ignoring the officers’ attempts to gain access, it emerged Attwell had reset his phone to factory settings and hidden his laptop beneath cat litter in a state of blind and frenzied panic, Judge Catherine Tulk was told.

He had engaged in child sex forums while using the online chatroom Kik just days before the raid, on September 7, 2017, when he shared an indecent image of a young girl after one user requested a picture of Attwell’s daughter, the court heard.

However, the prosecutor stressed that the image sent was not the former officer’s own daughter but that of an unknown girl as part of Attwell’s online fantasies.

Attwell was arrested and taken into custody, where he was questioned by officers – who had previously seized his phone – and eventually confessed to the location of the laptop, which the RASSO unit had not initially realised was there.

When officers established the phone and laptop were connected, officers returned his home where they recovered the device in the family cat’s litter tray – and hidden beneath cat excrement, Mr Fairley said.

Judge Tulk was told he had attempted suicide on a number of occasions – but was accepting of his problem with obscene material and wanted to address his personal turmoil.

Sentencing Attwell, Judge Tulk handed down a six-month sentence suspended for 18 months, with a 30-day rehabilitation requirement and 100 hours unpaid work.

He was also required to pay £100 towards the prosecution costs and a victim surcharge. The judge ordered the destruction of the phone and laptop once Attwell had received the personal items and images stored on the devices.

Judge Tulk said: “You are 43 years of age. In relation to the indictment… you admitted to two counts of distributing obscene articles and one count of attempting to pervert the course of justice.

“The incidents took place September 1, 2 and 7 2017, and arose from the fact that on September 7 police officers arrived to execute a search warrant and in the space of half an hour not only did you fail to appear because you knew there were items on your mobile phone that were going to get you into serious trouble.

“The fact that at the time you were a serving police officer of 19 years is in no way related to the sentence I am about to pass.

“I am actually convinced what you did in that half an hour was borne of sheer panic and desperation because of what you did.

“You reset your phone to factory settings in the hope officers would not find it on the mantelpiece… you hid the laptop in the cat’s litter tray, underneath the litter.

“When police officers were searching the house they did not find it – it was only when they put two and two together and realised there must be a phone connected to it, you told them and they found it.

“When they looked they found conversations in a chat log. It is accepted the photo you sent was not in fact your daughter and I suspect a very large part of what you were saying was sheer fantasy – but it is worrying that you were getting involved in conversations of that nature.

“That covers a large area of the defendant’s offending that took place.

“However, none of the evidence was lost. I have been told by the psychological assessment and pre-sentence report, which has set out your history of how your work started to affect your mental health and stress levels and the effect it has had on your life and children.

“The Sexual Risk Order will be a preventative factor in your relationships.

“You don’t represent a higher risk of serious harm to the public and there is a realistic prospect of mitigation. I do not take the view the job you were doing before means you must automatically go to prison.

“There is no link – it is not like you were using a computer at work.”

Former primary school caretaker from Milton Keynes unmasked as predatory paedophile as he is jailed for three years

Paedophile Peter Davies who sexually assaulted a young girl – then landed himself a job as a primary school caretaker

He was 25 years old when he carried out the historic abuse in the 1970s.

The now 67-year-old was sent to prison for three years after admitting the sex offences which came to light when his victim was receiving continual counselling and blurted out details about her attacker now being a school caretaker.

Police were called in and Davies, from Newton Longville near Bletchley, was interviewed and arrested.

Judge Catherine Tulk, sentencing him at Aylesbury Crown Court acknowledged that there was no suggestion he had continued his paedophile activities while a school caretaker. She heard that he had now retired.

The victim had regular counselling as she grew older to help her cope with the traumatic events of her childhood but it was only when she happened to mention to one of her therapists in 2015 that her abuser had begun working as a caretaker in a primary school, that she was told she had to tell the police, or her therapist would.

Davies, of Westbrook End, had retired since his crimes had come to light, and the court was told there was no indication he had acted in any inappropriate way while working at the school.

When police interviewed him, he had admitted all the offending and told Aylesbury Crown Court today/yesterday (Mon) he admitted a new charge on his indictment of sexual intercourse with the young girl.

Judge Tulk told Davies: “The only reason why she [the victim] complained about this offending was because she had been having counselling for many, many years and at one point during the counselling she made reference to the fact that her abuser worked in a school as a caretaker.

“She was told, categorically, if you do not report it to the police, we will. She had no alternative but to report it. She has, at all times, been very reluctant to engage with the police.

“That entitles you to significant credit for putting your hands up and admitting to this offence. Knowing that the victim was reluctant to come to court, many people might have tried to play the game a bit. You have taken responsibility from a very early stage.”

More jail time for mother complicit in daughter’s sexual assault

A mother who knowingly allowed her partner to rape her daughter has had her jail sentence increased by the Court of Appeal after intervention by the Solicitor General, Lucy Frazer QC MP.

50 year old Mary-Louisa Andrews’ partner Anoyke Andrews sexually abused the victim from the age of 10 until 16.

Mary-Louisa Andrews was aware of the abuse that took place in the family home, although it’s unclear when she became aware of Anoyke’s actions.

During the 7 years that Anoyke Andrews sexually abused the victim, she fell pregnant twice, both of which she terminated.

In May this year, Mary-Louisa Andrews was sentenced to 3 years’ imprisonment for cruelty to a person under 16 years at Aylesbury Crown Court.

This sentence was referred to the Court of Appeal by the Solicitor General as being unduly lenient. Today it was increased to 5 years.

Step-father and mother jailed in connection with abuse of daughter – Milton Keynes

THIS is the face of an evil stepdad finally unmasked today after raping his stepdaughter from the age of 10 and making her pregnant three times.

Anoyke Andrews, 44, can be identified after his victim waived her legal right to anonymity so he could be named and shamed for his wicked crimes.

Andrews first began raping the girl at the age of 10 and she first fell pregnant at just 12 years old.

She was forced to undergo a number of abortions, after which Andrews continued to rape her in the family home in Milton Keynes, Bucks, between 2000 and 2007.

The monster was only stopped when his stepdaughter, now 28, found the courage to contact police years later as an adult.

Following a trial at Aylesbury Crown Court, Anoyke Andrews was found unanimously guilty of six counts of rape, two counts of indecent assault and one count of assault by penetration.

The girl’s mother Mary-Louisa Andrews was found unanimously guilty of one count of cruelty to persons under 16 years old by a unanimous jury.

Andrews was jailed for 20 years and the girl’s mother Mary-Louisa Andrews, 50, was caged for four years for ignoring the abuse over fears her husband would end their relationship.

Prosecuting, Angus Robertson, described an incident where Andrews raped the young girl while they were in the living room watching football on TV and Mary-Louisa Andrews shouted downstairs to ask what they were doing.

Anoyke Andrews had shouted back ‘nothing’, and no more was said but the girl maintained in court her mother had known.

Mr Robertson said: “When she was aged 12 years, she found she was pregnant. She had a termination of the pregnancy. She did not want to have that termination.

“Mr Andrews told Mrs Andrews that if the pregnancy wasn’t terminated he would end the relationship and leave her.

“Mrs Andrews always insisted that a young man was responsible and the girl should tell the boy he was the father. Mr Andrews continued to have regular intercourse with the victim after that termination.

“She became pregnant again when she was 13 years old, told her mother the father was Mr Andrews and said they could have her child.

“Both defendants were attempting to have a child of their own. Mrs Andrews considered this, but told her to ‘get rid of it’.”

Addressing Anoyke Andrews, who kept his head bowed throughout, Judge Francis Sheridan said: “You were a thoroughly evil and wicked step-father. Let’s call it exactly what it is. That is the finding of the jury.

“The jury believed your stepdaughter. That is her first step to recovery from a life of hell inflicted by you, with the sex drive of a monster.

“You treated your stepdaughter as an object. If you wanted sexual contact, she had to deliver and the poor little thing was scared to say anything and when she did, her complaints were dismissed.

“A little girl, an innocent little girl, corrupted and for those years whilst under your care, her life was ruined.”

Anoyke Andrews was found guilty of six counts of rape, two counts of indecent assault and assault by penetration.

Mary-Louisa Andrews burst into tears as her husband was jailed for 20 years for the rapes and indecent assaults and she awaited her own sentence for neglect of her child.

After she was sentenced herself, Judge Sheridan told her: “he tears you shed are for yourself. I do not think any of them are for your daughter.

“I am not in any way influenced. You have not shown any sign of remorse.

“It is time somebody told you to your face – and I will: You were a wicked mother. When your daughter complained, her complaints were dismissed. You will take that dismissal to the grave. You betrayed your daughter to stand by your husband.”

The victim waived her right to anonymity so Andrews and her mother could be named by the media but requested her name is not made public
