Two Luton rapists jailed 15 years each for ‘appalling, brutal joint attack’ on woman

Two men from Luton were found guilty and jailed for raping and assaulting a woman, after police were called by concerned members of the public who heard her screams.

Last week, Alyas Hussain, 41, of Newark Road, and 38-year-old Slamet Nazir, of Cavendish Road, were both found guilty by a jury at Luton Crown Court..

At around 12.30pm on Thursday, March 3 last year, officers arrived in Hockwell Ring and found a distressed woman who had been raped, sexually assaulted, and beaten with objects by the two men.

The duo were caught by police after concerned members of the public heard the woman’s screams.

Passing sentence, Judge Rebecca Herbert said: “This was an appalling, brutal joint attack.

“Hussain had an arrogant belief, evident from the way he spoke to police, that she was expendable.

“He was less directly involved in the sexual assaults, but his violence facilitated them.

“The disrespect and contempt they had for this victim was clear.”

Hussain was sentenced to serve 15 years’ imprisonment for rape, assault by penetration and wounding with intent.

Nazir was sentenced to 15 years’ imprisonment for rape, assault by penetration and wounding with intent, and he was also placed on the Sex Offenders Register.

Luton paedophile jailed after school assembly helped young girl tell of abuse

A talk from the NSPCC in a school assembly gave a young girl the courage to tell how she had been sexually assaulted, and her abuser has now been jailed for three years.

Sidney Sales, 63, from Tomlinson Avenue, Luton, was sentenced at Luton Crown Court on Monday, February 1, after being found guilty by a majority verdict in December, of one count of sexual assault on a child under 13 years of age, and one count of engaging in sexual activity with a child.

Sales targeted the girl in 2016 when she was just eight years old.

He will serve a prison sentence of three years.

Cranfield man jailed for child sexual abuse as victim talks of ‘relief’ at speaking out

A Cranfield man has been jailed for over ten years after pleading guilty to the sexual abuse of a child in a historic case that left his victim haunted by what happened to him.

The victim, man now in his 30s, told police he was haunted by the prolonged sexual abuse as a child but spoke of his relief at finally being able to speak about what happened.

The abuse began when he was aged around 10 in 2000, and continued for approximately five years, only stopping when he was in his mid-teens and at middle school.

He finally found the courage to speak to police in 2018, after confiding in his partner about what had happened.

Michael Fensom, now 78, of Coronation Road, Cranfield, was arrested in February 2018 and an investigation into the abuse was launched.

He initially denied the allegations but in September 2020 plead guilty to of nine counts of indecent assault on a male, and four counts of sexual activity with a child.

“I’ve had to live for years knowing about it, keeping it a secret, writing off my life,” said the victim.

“Since the start of this whole thing with the police, it’s got easier to live with, but it feels like there’s more support there than you could ever imagine.”

At Luton Crown Court yesterday, (Tuesday), Fensom was sentenced to nine years and six months in prison, with an extended 12 months licence period.

He was also placed on the sex offenders register for life.

He pleaded not guilty to a further three charges of indecent assault on a male and two counts of sexual activity with a child, and these charges will lay on file.

Luton man jailed almost seven years for abusing teenage girl

A Luton man who sexually abused a teenage girl between October 2018 and March 2019 has been jailed for almost seven years

Thomas Brooks, 41, of Green Close, Luton, met his victim several times, plying her with drugs and alcohol before engaging in sexual activity with her.

Eventually, the girl told Brooks that she no longer wanted to meet up with him, but he continued to message her in an attempt to persuade her to have further meetings.

Brooks pleaded guilty to three counts of sexual activity with a child and was last week sentenced to six years and eight months in prison for each count.

These sentences will run concurrently.

The past has finally caught up with a pervert from Luton who has been jailed for nearly eight years.

Gary Ambridge, 58, of Verulam Gardens, pleaded guilty to a string of indecent assaults against two girls between 1997 and 2000.

The victims approached Bedfordshire Police last year and revealed the abuse.

While Ambridge initially denied the offences under interview, last month at court, he pleaded guilty to eight separate indecent assaults as well as two counts of cruelty to a person.
