Pervert pleads guilty to child abuse image haul

A man has admitted hoarding a horrific haul of child sexual abuse images

Keith Scott, 22, has been placed on the Sex Offenders’ Register for keeping the sickening stash at his home.

Scott, of Ayr, admitting two charges when he appeared at Ayr Sheriff Court yesterday.

The first charge he pleaded guilty to stated that he “did take or permit to be taken or make indecent photographs or pseudo-photographs of children”.

The second charge he admitted stated he was in possession of the images at his home in the Ayrshire town

Prosecutor Martina McGuigan told the court that prosecutors were not asking for a Sexual Offences Prevention Order, a tough court order which places limits on what sex offenders are allowed to do when living in the community.

Sheriff John Montgomery did not hear the facts of the case and adjourned it until next month for sentencing to take place

Scots monster who killed newborn son and tried to blame baby’s mum jailed for 12 years

A dad who killed his seven-week-old baby boy has been caged for 12 years.

Brian Penn, 30, carried out the fatal attack on tiny Kaleb Penn at his home in Ayr on November 1, 2017.

He had pinned the blame on the boy’s mum Kelly Ann Cope.

Penn violently shook Kaleb and inflicted an unknown blunt force trauma on him.

The stricken child was found to have suffered a skull fracture, a bleed to the brain, a serious brain injury and fractured ribs.

Penn initially claimed to medics the boy had suffered a “choking episode” but he died two days later in hospital.

Penn was found guilty at the High Court in Glasgow of culpable homicide and a separate charge of assault to Kaleb’s severe injury and danger of life.

He had originally been charged with murder and a further allegation of attempted murder.

Judge Lord Weir told Penn at today/yesterday’s sentencing that Penn inflicted wounds on a “vulnerable baby lost forever to his family forever.”

The judge added: “When Kaleb was born he could have expected without realising it the loving parental care and nurture so vital to such helpless infants.

“The jury were satisfied that you inflicted blunt force trauma injuries to his head and body to sufficient seriousness fractures appeared on an x-ray.

“The physical assaults you carried out were the antithesis for the care Kaleb looked to you for and his life was tragically cut short.”

Kaleb’s mum Kelly-Ann Cope, 31, told jurors in evidence Penn woke her up on the morning of his death asking her to phone 999.

Miss Cope said: “He said the wean wasn’t breathing. I was in bed and Kaleb was in his arms at the bedroom door.”

Prosecutor Erin Campbell asked how Kaleb was and she replied: “I put my hand on his heart and it was still beating but I couldn’t understand why he wasn’t breathing.

“His eyes were rolling to the back of his head.”

Miss Cope said she could not watch as mercy crews tended to Kaleb and rushed him to hospital.

It was put to Miss Cope that she knew about Kaleb choking on prune juice as she said it during the 999 call.

Miss Cope was asked how she knew and she replied: “Brian came in and I asked what happened and he said Kaleb choked on prune juice but I didn’t know more about it.”

She later added: “He said he patted his back and said he stiffened up, his body went flimsy then realised he wasn’t breathing.”

Miss Cope said she was beside Penn when he told medical staff that he dropped Kaleb on a changing mat weeks before.

It was also put to the mum that she told police in a statement that Kaleb had a bump on the back of his head.

Miss Cope said she had not known him to hit his head.

Miss Campbell asked: “Did you forget or deliberately not tell them?”

Miss Cope said: “I did forget as my head was discombobulated as my thoughts were to see my son.”

Miss Cope denied causing Kaleb’s injuries stating: “I wouldn’t harm anyone, I couldn’t kill a spider.”

Nurse Carol McNeill earlier told jurors that she spoke toPenn after Kaleb arrived at the hospital.

Mrs McNeill stated: “He said that he had been feeding the baby and there had been a choking episode.

“He (Kaleb) had vomited, but that it was not vomit.”

Consultant neuropathologist professor Colin Smith, 53, who examined Kaleb’s brain after his death, gave evidence at the trial.

He said: “[Kaleb’s injuries] are only seen in a setting of severe trauma, this is either a fall from a height or road traffic incident.”

Prof Smith also claimed there was evidence of previous bleeding to the brain dated seven to 10 days before Kaleb’s death.

He was then asked: “We may hear evidence that three weeks before his death, he may have been dropped from about 12 inches to the ground.

“Was a fall like that likely to have caused the injuries to the brain?”

Prof Smith replied: “It is possible.”

Miss Campbell asked: “Would it be clear the level of brain injury you identified in this case would have led Kaleb to be unresponsive?”

Prof Smith replied: “That’s my opinion.”

Ayrshire paedophile caught messaging a girl he thought was 14

A paedophile who sent indecent messages to a girl he thought was 14 — but who was in actual fact an adult — must wait before learning his fate in court.

Depraved Hugh Wilson sent the messages to the fake teenager over an 11-day period from a property in Ayr and elsewhere.

Wilson, 60, from Ayr, used a messaging app to send repeated communications, which were of an incident and sexual nature, to a girl he thought was called ‘Coral.’

The messages were, in fact, received by an adult, leading to Wilson’s arrest.

Wilson appeared at Ayr Sheriff Court on Tuesday, April 27.

At an earlier hearing, on January 27, he pleaded guilty to sending sexual communications which were designed to obtain sexual gratification and to humiliate, alarm or distress a person.

The offences took place on various occasions between September 12, 2019 and September 23, 2019, both dates inclusive, at a property in Ayr, and elsewhere.

The case has been further deferred to later next month and for the case to call before Sheriff Mhari Mactaggart.

Ardrossan offender who sent sex messages to ‘girl’ in jail

A sex offender who dodged jail when he was stung sending indecent messages to what he thought was a girl aged 13 has now been caged for failing to appear in court.

William Falconer, 35, was caught sending indecent messages and pornographic links to what he thought was a 13-year-old girl in Irvine’s Clark Drive between March 21 and March 28 last year.

He was due to appear for a Community Payback Order review hearing this week [Monday, April 19] however a warrant was issued for his arrest after the offender failed to appear – having been previously been put under supervision with no unpaid work last year [November 17,2020].

Falconer had his order revoked and he was given 12 months imprisonment when he was brought back before the court.

The sex offender was also told he will now be placed on the Sex Offenders Register for 10 years.

Falconer, most recently of Princes Street, Ardrossan, admitted last year attempting to cause what he believed to be an older child to participate in sexual activity, look at sexual images and communicate indecently through sending written messages of a sexual nature, links to pornography and encouraging them to perform a sex act.

He was later fined £240 for shouting, swearing and uttering offensive remarks in Irvine High Street in August 2019 while repeatedly pressing a buzzer and kicking the door as well as stealing alcohol from Aldi in Saltcoats on October 2019 with both offences committed while on bail granted on April 30 2019.

Stevenston creep tried grooming girls on bus with Buckfast

A sex offender in his 20s was caged after asking two girls aged 12 if they were virgins on a bus before offering to ply them with drink in a bid to abuse them.

William Donahoe, 22, was held in custody after causing the kids fear and alarm on February 27 this year – having been subject to a Sex Offender order imposed that same month and given a non-custody sentence.

Donahoe admitted speaking to the two girls before making lewd, indecent, and sexual comments to them as well as ‘sexual sounds’ at Irvine High Street and during the bus journey.

The Procurator Fiscal’s complaint states he also attempted to induce them to engage in sexual intercourse with him and offered the girls alcoholic drink.

Prosecutors told the court that Donahoe asked the girls if ‘they were virgins’ before telling them they should “do it together”.

Sheriff Alistair Watson heard that the girls ‘took this to mean they should have sex’ with Donahoe, before he then asked them both to meet him at Stevenston railway station and stated that he would buy them alcohol.

The Procurator Fiscal added: “He then went on to offer a bottle of Buckfast on his person – this put the witnesses in a state of fear and alarm.”

The bus then stopped at Ayrshire College, Kilwinning and Donahoe went to speak to the driver – when another male then went and sat with the girls.

On his return, the passenger told Donahoe to ‘shut up’ when he tried to speak to the girls again and the male looked out for them during the rest of the journey.

Donahoe then got off at Kilwinning Road, Stevenston before the girls both left at Saltcoats Road, Stevenston.

The court heard a female witness on the bus insisted on walking them home before police were then contacted.

Defence solicitor Gordon Ghee told the court his client had ‘some degree of learning difficulties’, his life was ‘chaotic’, had immediately run into problems’ after previous matters and ‘was just not capable’.

He added: “He needs time to learn ways of the world and not do this kind of thing.”

Telling the repeat offender to ‘stand up’, Sheriff Alistair Watson said: “This is just appalling behaviour – given you were put on the order with all the conditions imposed – then immediately out court you breached it in the worst possible way.

“I’ve only one possible option.”

He jailed Donahoe, most recently of Southook Row, Girdle Toll, for a total of 19 months for his sickening offending backdated to the day he was remanded on March 5.

He will also have to register as a sex offender with the police for 10 years.
