Thousands of indecent images found on phone

An Oban man who admitted possessing indecent images of children has been sentenced to a community payback order.

Kevin Raymond Hobbs, of 11 Croft Avenue, Oban, first pleaded guilty when he appeared before Oban Sheriff Court in October but returned last week for sentencing.

Sheriff Patrick Hughes sentenced him to two years’ supervision under social workers and to carry out 200 hours of unpaid work within 12 months.

He was also put on a restriction of liberty order to stay at home between 7pm and 7am for four months, and was made subject of a sexual offences prevention order to last five years as well as going on the sexual offenders’ register for two years.

In October, the court heard the 31-year-old’s phone had contained 4,297 indecent images, all of which were classed as Category C, the least severe, and were predominantly of female children between the ages of nine and 15.

Police unearthed the indecent images when they searched his home on January 31, 2019, and seized a number of devices, in particular a Samsung mobile phone found in his bedroom.

Sheriff Hughes said the ‘sheer number of images’ found on Hobbs’s phone was ‘a great concern’ but pointed out they were at the lowest level of seriousness and, after considering reports, added: ‘There’s nothing to suggest it is an ongoing issue with you.’

Former Lossie serviceman assessed as ‘potential child killer’ after paying women to sit on babies

An ex-serviceman who paid women to crush babies has been assessed by experts as a potential child killer, a sheriff warned yesterday.

A forensic psychologist said Andrew Kerr posed a “high risk” to the public and his behaviour could lead to children being severely injured or killed.

The former RAF worker told Dundee Sheriff Court that was not happy about the way he had been assessed by forensic psychologist Dr Lorraine Johnstone.

His solicitor John Kilcoyne said: “He is entirely concerned about the views of Dr Johnstone. She indicated he is high risk. Mr Kerr would like to speak to her again.”

Sheriff Alistair Carmichael, however, pointed out he had two reports which both stated Kerr posed a potentially lethal danger to children.

He said: “The report states he constitutes a risk to others, either physical or psychological and there is a risk that babies or children could sustain injury – severe or fatal.

“It is the second report which indicates he poses a danger. I do have two reports which suggest your client may pose a danger.”

He deferred sentence for the latest report to be assessed by social workers at Argyll and Bute Council and said he would also be considering the possibility of imposing a lifelong restriction on Kerr.

Kerr, who served in the RAF for a decade, paid women to sit on babies until they screamed in agony for his sexual gratification.

He duped women into sending him cruel and bizarre videos by claiming he was a documentary filmmaker and a stuntman.

After meeting a stranger on Facebook, Kerr, 36, told former nursery assistant and mother-of-twins Gemma McFee of Barry, Wales that the more bizarre and cruel videos she sent him the more she would be paid.

The court was told that she then carried out his requests and sent him a total of seven videos.

Kerr had also tried to incite a second woman to carry out the same cruel and painful acts on young children and had child abuse images stored on various devices at RAF bases.

Fiscal depute Eilidh Robertson told the court that the videos showed a 16-month-old child “extremely distressed, crying out, and attempting to escape from underneath her”.

She said: “At the time he was employed by the RAF and was discharged in November 2019 as a result of this.

“This came to light as a result of intelligence received from Facebook.

“He incited her to sit on babies in return for payment. He encouraged her to carry out the assault, giving her detailed instructions.

Kerr, John Street, Dunoon, admitted that between November 27, 2012 and July 18, 2018 he had indecent images at RAF Lossiemouth, RAF Akrotiri in Cyprus and at his home.

He also admitted that on various occasions between April 7 and 22, 2017, he tried to incite a woman in Elgin to assault a child by sitting and standing on them.

He admitted inciting a second woman in Arbroath to assault two children aged just over a year old by sitting on their heads and bodies between June 17 and 21, 2018.

Mr Kilcoyne said: “He does realise that there’s a high likelihood of a custodial sentence being imposed.”

Kerr’s bail was continued.

Evil Kerr posed as a stuntman over Facebook where he persuaded a woman called Gemma McFee to share the shocking clips with the promise that she would be paid.

In one message, he wrote: “Gives a new meaning to babysitting haha.”

The creep claimed he was working for a film company but in reality, he was stationed at RAF bases in Lossiemouth and Cyprus.

Military officers also uncovered a stash of child sexual abuse images after searching his room.

Over four days in June 2018, Kerr had made contact with a woman in Arbroath claiming he was working for a film company and asked her to carry out the sickening abuse on children.

Fiscal depute Eilidh Robertson said: “Information had come to light he had met the complainer through Facebook and posed as a film stuntman. He said this was to be used as a stunt for a film.

“Kerr incited her to sit on two babies in return for payment. She sat on them and uploaded several videos. The accused gave her detailed instructions on how to do this and asked her to send the videos, adding that she would be paid commission for the clips.”

Kerr sent the woman a video of how he wanted the acts to be carried out. The woman uploaded seven videos which lasted between four and 40 seconds long.

The footage showed the children were initially “laughing and giggling” but became extremely distressed and tried to escape after the woman applied more of her weight.

During the conversations on Messenger, Kerr said: “If you do the scene a couple of times, we can give you advice.

“If you make it a couple of times you could make it into a montage which would make you more money. Get a good holiday from it haha.”

Kerr also attempted to incite another woman to carry out similar actions on a child in Elgin in 2017.

He again posed as a stuntman and said he would pay £65 for her to “squash” a child. An arrangement was made to meet at Elgin Railway Station but this never took place.

Kerr’s IP address was traced to his room in Cyprus following the intelligence. He told military officers after the discovery of indecent images: “I am guilty of the offences. I have done it since my mother died.”

Devices both at his room and at his home in Dunoon, Argyllshire, found a total of 102 images and 67 videos of children being abused. Some of these included adults crushing or sitting on children.

Former nursery assistant and mother-of-twins Gemma McFee of Barry, Wales was spared jail by a sheriff last year because she had been ‘naive’ and was ‘manipulated and exploited’ by a man with a fetish for women sitting on babies.

She was sentenced to 200 hours community service, placed on a restriction of liberty order for eight months, and under social work supervision for three years.

Video clips, ranging from four to forty seconds in length, were played in court during her trial, showing her sitting on the bodies of the children and the head of one of them, placing varying degrees of body weight on them.

One clip showed her kneeling in front of one of the babies and thrusting her buttocks backwards towards the child, while a still photograph showed her sitting on one of the babies.

The videos showed McFee increasing the weight on the children by placing a cushion on top of their bodies — and in one clip on a child’s head — and sitting on the cushion.

Pervert collected child sexual abuse images

A former RAF serviceman has admitted inciting an Angus woman to send him vile videos of her “crushing” two babies.

Evil Andrew Kerr posed as a stuntman over Facebook where he persuaded her to share the shocking clips with the promise that she would be paid.

Kerr, 35, was snared after intelligence about his activity on Facebook was shared with the Ministry of Defence.

He is now facing a jail term after pleading guilty to the offences at Dundee Sheriff Court.

It was revealed Kerr was discharged from the RAF in November last year after the case came to light.

“The accused incited her to sit on two babies in return for payment.

A medical examination found no actual harm was caused to the children but concluded they would have been in danger if they had continued any longer.

Kerr pleaded guilty to taking or permitting to be taken indecent images of children between November 27 2012 and July 18 2018 at RAF Lossiemouth, John Street in Dunoon and RA Akrotiri, Cyprus and elsewhere.

On various occasions between April 7-22 2017 in Elgin, Kerr incited another woman into assaulting a child by sitting and standing on them.

He also admitted a third charge of inciting a woman in Arbroath to assault two children by sitting and standing on their bodies between June 17-21 2018.

The court heard Kerr made “full admissions” to police who interviewed him.

Sentence was deferred until September by Sheriff Alastair Carmichael who placed him on the sex offender’s register. Kerr’s bail order was allowed to continue.

Brian McCallion – Renfrew/Cardross

April 2021

Scots perv caught with images of women having sex with dogs given court reprieve

A man who was caught with images of women having sex with dogs – and thousands of child abuse images – has been told he’s made his final court appearance in connection with the case.

Brian McCallion was sentenced to a Community Payback Order (CPO) after being found to have over 5,000 illegal images stashed on his computer and mobile phone.

As part of the CPO, McCallion has regularly attended Community Payback Order Progress Review hearings at Paisley Sheriff Court.

But this week a judge told him he no longer needed to attend the court for the hearings, and would be allowed to continue with his punishment without appearing in the dock.

After being told McCallion had “fully complied” with the court order, Sheriff James Spy noted a CPO Progress Review Report, submitted by social workers, recommended that no further review hearings be assigned.

The judge said: “I shall follow that recommendation – I’ll allow the [Community Payback] Order to continue, with no further review.”

The court heard previously that police officers raided McCallion’s home in Renfrew, near Glasgow, in December 2018.

Procurator Fiscal Depute Keri Marshall said McCallion was found to have a total of 5,492 illegal images on his devices.

The prosecutor explained: “In November 2018, the Public Protection Unit of Police Scotland received information that, on May 2, 2018, category C indecent images of children were uploaded on to the KIK messaging app.”

The images had been uploaded from McCallion’s home and officers obtained a search warrant before going to search his property.

Miss Marshall explained that McCallion was not there when police arrived but they were given access to the property.

She added: “The accused arrived home a short time later.

“A Samsung mobile phone was seized from the living room, which the accused indicated belonged to him.

A Compaq computer unit was seized from the bedroom, and the accused stated it belonged to him.”

The Compaq unit contained 5,470 indecent images, including both pictures and films, while the Samsung had a further 22 still images.

The images showed girls – aged between four and 14 – being sexually abused by men.

McCallion, who previously worked as a bouncer, also had “extreme” images showing “females engaged in sexual activity with dogs.”

He admitted downloading indecent images of children over a 12-year period, between December 2006 and December 2018, possessing them over the same period, and hoarding bestiality images.

He was ordered to carry out 300 hours’ unpaid work in 15 months and be supervised by social workers for three years over the offences.

McCallion, whose address is now given as Cardross, Argyll & Bute, was also to attend the Moving Forward, Making Changes programme, which helps sex offenders change their ways, and was placed on the Sex Offenders’ Register for three years.

November 2019

Renfrew newlywed who downloaded sex abuse images dodges jail term

A NEWLYWED husband who was caught with thousands of images of young girls being sexually abused has been spared jail.

Brian McCallion was found to have more than 5,000 abuse files on his mobile phone and a computer at the home he shares with wife Emma in Renfrew.

The couple married in June last year and Paisley Sheriff Court heard it was Emma who answered the door to police in December when they raided the home.

McCallion appeared in the dock in August this year to plead guilty to the three charges against him.

He admitted downloading indecent images of children over a 12-year period, between December 2006 and December 2018, possessing them over the same length of time and being in possession of bestiality images.

Procurator fiscal depute Keri Marshall told Sheriff James Spy that 39-year-old McCallion was found to have a total of 5,492 illegal images within his home.

The images had been uploaded from the property in Renfrew and officers obtained a search warrant before going there to carry out a search.

Miss Marshall said: “Police officers attended but the accused was not present. The witness Emma McCallion provided access to police.

“The accused arrived home a short time later. A Samsung mobile phone was seized from the living room, which the accused indicated belonged to him. A Compaq computer unit was seized from the bedroom and the accused stated it belonged to him.”

Indecent images recovered from the devices featured girls aged between four and 14 being abused by grown men. There were also images of women having sex with dogs.

After hearing that McCallion was plagued by “deep-rooted psychological difficulties due to childhood trauma,” Sheriff Spy had called for background reports to be prepared ahead of sentencing.

When McCallion returned to the dock last week to learn his fate, he was spared prison.

Instead, Sheriff Spy placed him on a Community Payback Order that will see him carry out 300 hours of unpaid work over the next 15 months.

He will also be supervised by social workers for three years and has to attend the Moving Forwards, Making Changes programme, which helps sex offenders change their ways.

McCallion was also placed on the Sex Offenders’ Register for three years and has to return to court in December for a review of his progress.

September 2019

Fiend who hoarded child sex abuse movies facing jail

A pervert who hoarded horrific images of girls as young as four being sexually abused has been warned he is facing jail.

Brian McCallion, 39, was also caught with vile material showing women having sex with dogs when police swooped on his address.

Newly wed McCallion, who only married his wife in June last year, was rumbled barely six months later with more than 5,000 indecent images and videos featuring the sexual abuse of mainly young girls and extreme pornography depicting bestiality.

Paisley Sheriff Court heard it was his wife who answered the door when police armed with a warrant went to the address in Renfrew at around 8am on 19 December.

Procurator Fiscal Depute Keri Marshall said: “In November 2018, the Public Protection Unit of Police Scotland received information that, on May 2, 2018, category C indecent images of children had been uploaded on to the KIK messenger app.

“An Android device, which had been used, was traced via an IP address to a property in Renfrew

“Police obtained a warrant which was executed at 8am on December 19. A number of police officers attended but the accused was not present.

“His partner permitted access to police.

“ A short time later the accused arrived.

“A Samsung mobile phone was seized from the living room. The accused indicated it belonged to him.

“A Compaq Processing Unity was seized from the fourth bedroom. The accused stated it belonged to him.

“Initial examination revealed category C images were present and the accused was arrested and taken to Helen Street Police Office.”

The prosecutor told the court the Cyber Crime Unit’s analysis of the devices revealed there were 5,470 indecent images on the Compaq device, and 22 on the Samsung mobile.

A breakdown of the Compaq revealed 521 were category A, the worst classification, 141 were category B and 4,808 were category C.

The court heard an example of the category A material involved two girls aged around eight involved in sex acts while facing a camera.

Analysis of the Samsung phone showed there were 22 images, with four at category A, four at category B and the remaining 14 at category C.

An example of the category A material featured a girl aged between four and six being abused by an adult male.

The court heard “extreme pornographic” moving images recovered from the Compaq, “depicted females engaged sexual activity with dogs.”

McCallion pleaded guilty to charges of taking or permitting to be taken indecent images of children, possession of these indecent images and possession of extreme pornographic images depicting bestiality between dates 6 December 2006 and 19 December 2018.

Sheriff James Spy placed McCallion on the Sex Offenders’ Register and warned him he is likely to be jailed.

He said: “This is a very serious matter. Uppermost in the court’s mind is a custodial sentence given the nature of the charges.”

He was released on bail and will learn of his fate when he returns to court on October 9.

Jeremy Mason – Helensburgh

August 2019

Helensburgh man spared jail over 17,000 child abuse images

A HELENSBURGH pervert who was found in possession of thousands of sickening indecent images of children has been spared a prison sentence.

Jeremy Mason’s stash of 17,000 images, amassed over a period of three years, was discovered when police raided his home in the town last September.

Some of the images featured children as young as five years of age.

The 51-year-old, who has no previous convictions, appeared for sentencing at Dumbarton Sheriff Court on Friday, July 26 after pleading guilty at an earlier hearing to a charge of being in possession of the indecent images at his flat in East King Street between September 7, 2015 and the same date three years later.

Sentence had been deferred for social work reports following Mason’s previous appearance in court in June.

Mason, who appeared in the dock wearing a blazer and tie, was told by Sheriff Gallacher: “You have, very deliberately and with some skill, set about seeking to access this material.

“This is not neutral. This is behaviour which has a considerable and long-standing impact on a great number of people.

“Many are very young and will have their lives affected, long beyond their childhood, by the actions of people who seek to access this material, and who do so deliberately.

“Your behaviour has been very extensive. Because of the very significant quantity of material you amassed, I considered whether I had any option other than to send you to prison.

“Were I to do that, because of your lack of previous convictions and your plea of guilty, any such period of imprisonment would be limited.

“It may be that the community benefits more by my imposing on you a community payback order [CPO].

“On those circumstances alone, and in view of your willingness to engage, I am persuaded that I can avoid a custodial sentence.”

Mason’s CPO will see him supervised by social workers for three years; he will also be banned from having any unsupervised contact with any person aged under 16 without the permission of his supervising officer.

He will also be required to make available any internet-enabled device for inspection, and was told not to delete his online browsing history

In addition he was ordered to carry out 300 hours of unpaid work – the maximum available under the law – within 12 months.

“I am persuaded not to send you to prison,” Sheriff Gallacher added, “but I am not persuaded to moderate the penalty at all.

“If you fail to comply, I will send you to prison.”

Mason was also placed on the sex offenders’ register for three years.

June 2019

Helensburgh pervert caught with 17,000 sickening images of children

A pervert who lives next door to a youth centre was caught with 17,000 sickening images of children.

Vile Jeremy Mason was found with thousands of indecent images on three devices when police searched his home in September last year.

The 51-year-old was caught with the stash of images, featuring children as young as five. after cybercrime officers received intelligence of indecent images being downloaded at his address –which is located next to a council youth centre.

Mason, of East King Street in Helensburgh, was in the dock at Dumbarton Sheriff Court last week where he admitted having indecent photographs or pseudo photographs of children in his posession between September 2017 and September 2018.

The court heard how police forced entry into Mason’s flat to search devices on September 7 last year.

The 17,000 images were found on three of six devices seized.

Depute fiscal Kevin Doherty said: “That property is a second floor flat in Helensburgh town centre next door to a local authority children’s unit. The sole occupant is the accused.

“Police attended at the address in the morning around 9am. The flat was unoccupied and officers forced entry.

“They carried out the search and officers found six devices capable of accessing the internet. An initial search of the devices revealed images of concern, namely child sexual exploitation images.

“Three of the devices were found to have a significant number of indecent images of children on them.

“The total number of images was 17,000. All of the images were of category C level.

“The category C images showed female children between the ages of five and 15 posing erotically.

“These were found within various folder on the devices under certain names.”

Mason returned to the flat later that day at around 5.30pm. He was arrested and taken to Clydebank Police Office.

Mr Doherty continued: “He was interviewd in connection with the discovery of the images on these devices.

“He replied no comment to all questions put to him.”

Speaking to Mason in the dock, Sheriff William Gallacher warned him of the consequences of downloading indecent images.

He said: “The children involved in these images were subject to abuse. By looking at theses images, you are creating the problem that causes this abuse.”

The case was adjourned until July 26 for social work reports to be obtained.

William Rigby – Helensburgh

October 2019

Man who filmed himself raping five-year-old girl jailed

A man who filmed himself raping a five-year-old girl has been jailed.

William Rigby, 53 preyed on the child while he was babysitting her on October 11, last year, at a house in Helensburgh, Argyll and Bute.

He pled guilty to sexually assaulting and raping the child and to earlier abusing two other girls.

At the High Court in Glasgow judge Lady Stacey placed Rigby on an order for lifelong restriction – similar to a life sentence – and ordered that the punishment part should be seven years.

She told Rigby: “That does not mean you will be released then. It may be you are never released.

“You will be in prison until there is any hope of you not being a danger to young girls.”

Lady Stacey added: “You are guilty of a horrible catalogue of offences. What you did was betray the trust of a family and what you did harmed these children.

“You present a risk to the public and are likely to continue to do so even after work is done with you

The court heard earlier that the sobbing young girl who was raped told her mother what had happened when she returned home around midnight.

When the mother confronted Rigby, he claimed that the child had misunderstood what had taken place.

He left the house after stating to the woman: “I am sorry if she misunderstood what happened.”

Rigby, however, was later held by police. His mobile phone was seized and a series of video clips of him with the girl were found.

Prosecutor Margaret Barron told the court this included him raping the child. A further 34 indecent images of children were also discovered.

Rigby later told police that he should be “punished” for what happened. An investigation revealed he had preyed on two others girls between 2006 and 2018.

One was aged four when the abuse began, the other was six.

Rigby admitted to charges of indecent and sexual assault in connection with the girls.

March 2019

Helensburgh rapist filmed himself abusing five-year-old girl

A sexual predator filmed himself attacking and raping a five-year-old girl at a house in Helensburgh, a court has heard.

William Rigby preyed on the child while he was apparently baby-sitting her in the town while the girl’s mum went out to dinner last October.

The youngster told her mum what happened when she returned home.

Rigby claimed the girl was “misunderstood” – but the 53-year-old, also of Helensburgh, now faces a possible life sentence after he pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting and raping the child.

At the High Court in Glasgow on Wednesday, Rigby was remanded in custody pending sentencing in June.

The attack on the five-year-old occurred on October 11 last year while the girl’s mum was out.

The court was told that when she got home around midnight, her daughter was still awake, and Rigby was standing behind her.

The girl soon began to cry and stated: “I don’t want to get into trouble.”

The mum went on to confront Rigby over what had happened.

He soon left the house after stating to the woman: “I am sorry if she misunderstood what happened.”

Rigby, however, was later held by police.

Officers seized his mobile phone and a series of sick video clips of him with the girl were found.

Prosecutor Margaret Barron told the court this included him raping the child, who was in her pyjamas at the time.

At one point, Rigby, also of Helensburgh, had got the girl to say “hello” to the camera.

A further 34 indecent images of children were also discovered.

Rigby, the court heard, later told police that he should be “punished” for what happened.

A probe then revealed he had preyed on two others girls between 2006 and 2018.

One was aged four when the abuse began, while the other was six.

Rigby insisted with one of the victims he had acted on “impulse”.

He admitted charges of indecent and sexual assault in connection with those girls.

Miss Barron told the hearing she was moving for a full risk assessment to be carried out on Rigby.

This could lead to him being hit with an order for lifelong restriction.

Lady Stacey deferred sentence in the case for the risk assessment to be carried out.
