Paedophile claims father’s death led to him watching baby rape videos
A pervert has avoided a prison sentence after downloading and watching graphic child sexual abuse videos
Among a haul of movies found on his computer hard drive were clips of babies and toddlers being raped.
Ashanti-Jade Walton, prosecuting, told Swansea Crown Court officers executed a search warrant at Lewis Davies’ address in Ystradgynlais shortly before 8am on January 16, 2019.
A number of electronic devices were seized and Davies was arrested and taken to Brecon police station.
The court heard that on an external hard drive officers found a total of 91 films and images in Category A – showing the most extreme kind of sexual abuse – as well as 30 in Category B and 62 in Category C. Police also found 68 images of extreme adult pornography.
Miss Walton said one of the films was a “compilation” of clips of babies and toddlers being raped by men and in some of the clips “the children are in obvious distress”.
In his subsequent interviews Davies admitted downloading and saving the material denied getting sexual gratification from it.
Davies, aged 24, of Midland Terrace, Gurnos, Ystradgynlais, admitted possession of indecent images and possession of extreme pornographic images. He has no previous convictions.
Davies was sentenced to a total of eight months in prison suspended for two years and was ordered to complete a Horizon sex offenders course and a rehabilitation course. He was made the subject of a 10-year sexual harm prevention order.
The judge said he wanted an explanation in writing within seven days from the police officer in the case as to why it had taken so long to be prosecuted.
