Pervert download images of child abuse despite court order

A man from Ashford who continued to download images of child abuse despite a court order restricting his internet use has been jailed.

Simon Ross, 42, was made the subject of a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order in November 2019 after he pleaded guilty to making indecent photographs.

As part of the conditions attached to that order, Kent Police officers attended his home in December 2019 to check he was complying.

Officers found more than 500 prohibited images on a laptop and 32 images graded at the level of category C.

Ross, of Simons Avenue, was arrested and later charged with possession of prohibited images and making indecent images of a child.

He admitted those charges and was brought before Canterbury Crown Court on Friday 17 July 2020 and was jailed for two years and 10 months.

Ross was also made the subject of a new 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order, which will restrict his access to the internet upon release.
