James Ashley Dunne was to stand trial on August 6 but on June 20 he appeared via video link at Bristol Crown Court and pleaded guilty to four charges of sexual activity with a girl aged 15.

The 21-year-old, of Great Brier Leaze, is yet to be sentenced.

Tabitha Macfarlane, defending, said Dunne committed the offences on a youngster “more intelligent than him”.

Miss Macfarlane told the court her client had previously pleaded guilty to possessing drugs as well as possessing a blade and common assault.

Judge James Patrick adjourned sentence for a projected hour-long hearing on July 4.

Dunne was remanded in custody.
