Aberdeen sex beast jailed for ‘number of serious offences’ named after legal challenge to expose him
A SEX beast who admitted a “number of serious sexual offences” has been named after a legal bid to expose him.
Kevin Milne, 36, admitted committing three offences last year when he appeared at the High Court in Edinburgh.
But his identity was protected after the sentencing judge, Lord Glennie, imposed a blanket ban on reporting the case.
Following a media challenge against the decision, reporting is now possible.
Lord Glennie told Milne he would have jailed him for nine years for the sex offences, but for his early guilty pleas.
The judge said: “I am satisfied that in this case there is no realistic alternative to a lengthy prison sentence.”
He also told him: “I propose to take steps for the protection of the public to ensure that on release you will be subject to a long period of supervision.”
The judge directed that he should be under monitoring and supervision for a further four years.
During a sentencing hearing on Milne the judge pointed out that the offender could not explain or identify “the driving forces” that caused him to commit the crimes.
Defence counsel Craig Findlater said programmes aimed at making changes would be available to Milne during his “inevitable” prison and he would engage with them.
Milne was jailed for six years and placed on the sex offenders register indefinitely.
