Teenager jailed over schoolgirl rape

A teen has been locked up for five years after he was convicted of raping a schoolgirl at a skate park.

Ryan Meadows attacked the 14-year-old in Crabtree Park, Guildford Crown Court was told.

The two stopped to sit on a half-pipe ramp when they reached the park and Meadows started to touch the girl before ripping off her tights and forcing himself on her, the court heard.

At the end of a four-day trial in February, a jury consisting of 11 men and one woman took nearly five hours to find Meadows guilty.

Meadows, 19, of Cross Lane, Frimley Green, was sentenced on Friday, March 11 and will be detained inside a young offender institution.

Judge Michael Addison said: “You took advantage of this 14-year-old girl in a careless and reckless way.

“This is so serious, only a custodial sentence would justify.”

The victim did not come forward to the police until her mother found out three months later and it was her that reported the case, the court was told.
