Pervert who filmed girls as young as 10 has walked free from court
Matthew Fox, who was caught by police in the act of watching young girls in their bedrooms, has walked free from court.
The pervert was caught by police after he filmed girls while they changed in their bedrooms – some as young as 10 – leaving one victim too scared to go out alone.
Derby Crown Court heard how Fox, over a two-and-a-half year period, had been watching young girls in their bedrooms and, on one occasion, observed a woman doing a private act.
The father of one of Fox’s three victims, who is now 12 years old, said his daughter had been left a “wreck” after finding out what the paedophile had been doing.
He said: “She’s too scared to go into her bedroom alone now. It’s affected her sleeping. She’s got no confidence now. She won’t leave the house on her own and cannot be left at home on her own. She’s not in a very good place.”
The father said the police had come to their home one day in November and told them what had been taking place. They were tipped off after Fox was seen spying with a camera at a house.
He said: “It was completely out of the blue. We had no idea. We were horrified. He had been doing it for two-and-a-half years and taken almost 200 videos and 50 photographs of my daughter. He had about 40 videos and pictures of the other two girls.”Fox, who admitted three counts of taking indecent images, three of downloading indecent pictures and an offence of voyeurism, was given a three-year community order and told to attend a community sex offender group work programme.
The victim’s dad said: “We thought he would get a custodial sentence, with all due respect to the judge, who did explain why he had given him a community order. His argument was that he wanted him to be rehabilitated. But, from our point of view, and my daughter’s, he hasn’t been punished and he is still out on the streets.”
Fox, 25, of Derby Road, Marehay, was also told to do up to 20 days of a rehabilitation activity requirement and given a sexual harm prevention order.
