A pensioner who has an obsession with pleasuring himself in fields where horses graze is back behind bars.

Malcolm Downes appeared at Hull Crown Court again on Monday afternoon and was jailed for eight months after he admitted outraging public decency.

The 62-year-old has a “long, long history” of masturbating near horses and was jailed in 2016 for similar “totally disgusting” behaviour.

Downes, of Spring Bank, was only jailed for eight months in April this year after he was spotted close to a field in the Bude Park area of Bransholme and admitted outraging public decency.

However, he was back in the dock for the same offence and jailed again on Monday.

When he appeared at court in April, Downes, who has previously said he was planning to see a doctor “to seek libido suppressing drugs”, admitted performing sex acts in public twice in 24 hours.

He was initially arrested on February 18 this year after being reported for pleasuring himself but was let go with a warning.

Prosecutor Neil Coxon told Hull Crown Court in April: “It soon became clear he was in fact masturbating. This activity went on for three or four minutes. His penis was exposed for about ten minutes.

“The matter was reported to the police and the defendant was arrested.”

After being bailed, just 24 hours later he was caught by a police officer in a field in the Bude Park area with his hand around his genitals.

He had 12 similar offences among the 35 crimes on his record, as well as nine breaches of an antisocial behaviour order for the same behaviour.

The order, which has now expired, was intended to curb Downes’s offending and banned him from “entering any field or stable, or any other area that contains equine animals, in the Humberside Police area”.

His defence barrister, Stephen Robinson, previously said Downes’ action was due to “some sort of lapse he can’t explain” and said his client was apologetic for the crime.

Judge David Tremberg told him: “You know you are doing wrong but you appear either unable or unwilling to stop yourself.”

What Downes has appeared for in the court in the past:
1970s and 1980s – Downes was convicted of indecent exposure a number of times in the 1970s and 1980s.

A hearing previously heard he was convicted of the crime in 1974, 1975, 1977, 1979, four times in 1980 – with another taken into consideration – 1983 and 1986.

2007 – He was convicted of exposure in 2007 under the then new Sexual Offences Act.

August 2012 – Downes appeared in court and admitted breaching court orders and threatening behaviour. He was fined £40.

2013 – A woman walking her dog saw Downes performing a sex act in front of a horse. He was made subject to an antisocial behaviour order – which he had broken at this point five times.

May 2016 – Downes appeared in court but was spared prison after being caught performing sex acts in front of horses twice in as many weeks in a field off Danepark Road, Orchard Park , the previous October.

Horse owners saw him performing the act while standing next to a black stallion and “both knew of him and knew he was prohibited from being in a field with horses,” a prosecutor told the court. As they saw him he made off across the fields.”

The court heard Downes was taking part in a programme for male sex offenders and he had admitted having a sexual interest in horses.

June 2016 – Downes was caught performing a sex act in a field containing a number of horses in the Evergreen Drive area of west Hull.

A man challenged him after seeing he was stood close to horses but Downes claimed he had been urinating.

But the resident had taken photos of what he had seen which proved Downes was masturbating. He was jailed for two years, which was later cut down to one year on appeal.

April 2019 – Despite a period of three years of not committing any acts, Downes once again was seen performing a sex act in a public place twice within 24 hours. He was jailed for eight months.

July 2019 – Downes is back in the dock for outraging public decency and appeared at Hull Crown Court on July 29.

Man who keeps on performing sex act by horses caught out in public again

A pervert with a sexual interest in horses is “unable or unwilling” to stop himself performing sex acts in public has done it again – twice in 24 hours.

Malcolm Downes, 61, has a “long, long history” of pleasuring himself near horses and was last before the courts in 2016 when he was jailed for what a judge called his “totally disgusting” behaviour.

He was found guilty of indecent exposure in 1974, 1975, 1977, 1979, four times in 1980, 2007 and 2013, 2016 & 2019

Downes, who was then said to be planning a doctor’s visit “to seek libido suppressing drugs”, was arrested on February 18 this year after he was seen to be up to his old tricks again in a field in the Bude Park area of Bransholme.

The shocked member of the public was about 200 yards away and initially thought Downes was urinating.

Downes is subject to an antisocial behaviour order which states he is “not to enter any field, stables or other area that contains any equine animal in the Humberside Police area”.

Prosecutor Neil Coxon told Hull Crown Court: “It soon became clear he was in fact masturbating.

This activity went on for three or four minutes. His penis was exposed for about ten minutes.

“The matter was reported to the police and the defendant was arrested.

“Interviewed that day, Downes told officers: “I was sat on a bench. I was feeling sexy so I started to…

Mr Coxon said: “Asked if he realised it was an offence he said ‘Yes’.”

Downes said he knew what he was doing was “wrong” and said he “didn’t do it to draw attention to himself. He was sorry”.

Downes was charged and released on bail, but within 24 hours was seen by an off duty female police officer doing the same thing in the same area.

The officer was driving along Bude Road towards Home Bargains when “her attention was drawn to this defendant at the end of an emergency access road”.

He “had his penis in his hand and was masturbating”.It was not safe for the officer to stop so she sounded her horn to signal “he should desist”.

Downes was arrested, taken into custody and was “again candid and straightforward” in interview.

Mr Coxon said: “He did confirm he thought he had a problem. Asked why he did this, and particularly in public, he said he got a thrill even though he knew it was wrong.”

He accepted if children had been in the area and seen what he was doing that would have frightened them.

He accepted he had a problem and required help.”Downes, of Spring Bank, west Hull, admitted outraging public decency and asked for a similar offence to be taken into consideration.

Jailing Downes for eight months, Judge David Tremberg told him: “You know you are doing wrong but you appear either unable or unwilling to stop yourself.”

Pervert with history of indecent exposure jailed

A PERVERT has been jailed for performing a “totally disgusting” sex act in front of some horses in broad daylight.

Malcolm Downes, 59, was spotted half-naked beside a bicycle in a field full of steeds on June 25 at around 11am.

A court heard when residents nearby in Hull, East Yorks., confronted the creep, he told them he was urinating.

But Downes was jailed for two years at Hull Crown Court on Friday.

The court heard he had a string of previous convictions of indecent exposure dating back to 1974.

One of his most recent convictions came in 2013 after a dog walker spotted him performing a sex act in front of horse.

Sentencing, Judge Mark Bury said: “It [Downes’ criminal record] doesn’t make very good reading as far as he is concerned.”

He added Downes, of Hull, should have seen a doctor “years ago” to get treatment for his libido.

Phillip Evans, prosecuting, said the resident “challenged the defendant about his behaviour and noticed he was in close proximity to some horses.

“The defendant claimed he had been urinating. He apologised and rode away on his bicycle.

“Notwithstanding that, [the resident] had taken some photographic evidence of what he had seen, which corroborated his view of events.”

The perv was later arrested by a community support officer.

He was found guilty of indecent exposure in 1974, 1975, 1977, 1979, four times in 1980, 2007 and 2013.

Nigel Clive, defending, said Downes was planning to visit his doctor to get treatment for his libido.
