Runaway child rapist sentenced to 10-years in prison

A child rapist who taunted police after he went on the run has been sentenced to 10-years.

Adam Marchment, 24 of Farnham appeared at Guildford Crown Court where he was found guilty of child rape and the sexual assault on another child

The victim of the rape was 15-year-old female and the victim of the sexual assault was a girl of 14

The court was told that the Marchment sexually assaulted the vulnerable 14-year-old girl at the war memorial park in Basingstoke whilst he was on bail for the rape of the 15-year-old

During sentencing the judge described Marchment as a predatory sex offender and a dangerous individual

Arrogant Marchment has shown absolutely no remorse for any of his offences

The court heard that in 2014, Marchment posted a YouTube video online taunting police officers to ’catch me if you can’.

Marchment was wanted by Surrey, Sussex, & Hampshire police for breaching licence conditions from previous convictions and for failing to attend his statutory appointments with the probation service. He was also wanted for child sexual abuse related offences

Marchment must register as a sex offender for life and he was told he will be subject to a 10 year sexual harm prevention order upon release.
