Paedophile cries in the dock as he is jailed for string of sexual offences
A MAN who blackmailed a schoolgirl he met online into sending naked images is now behind bars.
Oliver Aspinall could be seen crying in the dock as he was sentenced to four years in prison at Chester Crown Court on Monday for a string of sexual offences.
The court heard how the 24-year-old was arrested on the morning of May 14, 2013, when police officers executed a search warrant at his home address in Warrington.
Various items of computer equipment and a mobile phone were seized and, following an examination, ‘significant discoveries’ were made including a number of indecent images.
Chat logs on Skype were uncovered of Aspinall pretending to be a 15-year-old boy using accounts in his name and also under the pseudonym Ryan Harris.
Police were able to trace one of the victims who said she was between the ages of 13 and 15 when they struck up the online friendship.
Further chat logs also revealed how Aspinall had communicated with two other teenage girls, who were both aged 13, but police were unable to trace them.
During these exchanges Aspinall, who has no previous convictions, encouraged them to carry out sex acts.
On one occasion he said if they performed the act then they in turn could watch him perform a sex act on himself.
Aspinall pleaded guilty to one count of causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, two counts of attempting to incite a child to engage in sexual activity, two counts of attempting to engage in
sexual activity in the presence of a child, one count of possession of indecent photos and one count of making an indecent photograph or pseudo photograph of a child.
