Sex fiend’s ‘toxic’ traits a danger to children

Peter Thomas Holden

A MAN who raped a five-year-old girl has been branded “a dangerous paedophile” by a judge who jailed him for 14 years.

Peter Holden attacked the youngster shortly before she turned six and subsequently went on to sexually abuse her further.

The 46-year-old, of Fleet Lane, Parr, was found guilty following a trial but maintains his innocence.

However, Judge Thomas Teague, QC, told Liverpool Crown Court he is unqestionably a threat to children He said: “You have a manipulative personality which combined with a sexual attraction towards very young girls, is a toxic combination if ever there was one.

“There was an element of coercion in the way you pulled that young girl upstairs on one occasion and also threatening her with kidnapping.”

He said that Holden had undoubtedly planned the second incident and probably the first: “There is no sign of any willingness or ability to face up to let alone confront your desire for very young children.”

The judge ordered him to sign on the Sex Offenders Register for life. He also imposed a Sexual Offences Prevention Order which places restrictions on Holden’s liberty and bans unsupervised contact with girls under 16.

Holden had been found guilty by a jury last month of rape, three counts of causing a child to engage in sexual activity and one of sexual assault.

Once he is released his period on licence will be extended by four years for the “protection of the public”, such is the level of concern about the threat he poses to children.

Teresa Loftus, defending, said that Holden still maintains he is not guilty.
