Preston Crown Court heard on Friday how John Gill, 75, raped one of the girls, and carried out 17 sex offences including 15 counts of indecently assaulting his victims.

Gill, of Norbreck Road, Norbreck, pleaded guilty to the crimes, which date back more than 30 years.

In victim impact statements, both women spoke of their lives having been profoundly affected by what had happened to them.

Gill has been banned from working with children and has been made the subject of a sexual offences prevention order.
