Man jailed for child sex

A ST CLEARS man who had sex with an underaged girl has been sent to prison for three years.

Stephen Kenneth Jones had sex with a 14-year-old in the summer of last year, Swansea Crown Court heard earlier this week.

Jones, 21, of Church Street, pleaded guilty on Monday to sexual activity with a child.

During a police investigation last autumn the girl — who cannot be named for legal reasons — described how he had had sex with her.

The court heard that, when first questioned, Jones said he believed the girl was 15 or 16.

Jones insisted he had “never been with her,” the court heard.

Judge Keith Thomas ordered Jones to be registered indefinitely as a sex offender and disqualified him from ever working with children.
