A 41-year-old man from Londonderry has been jailed for 12 months after he admitted downloading indecent images of children from the internet.
Adrian Mark Goligher, from Stevenson Park in Tullyally, committed the eight offences in 2007.
Judge Piers Grant said the images were of “vulnerable and defenceless young boys” and the sentence must reflect the public’s “repugnance” at such offences.
Goligher was also ordered to sign the sex offenders register for five years.
Londonderry Crown Court heard Goligher was arrested when his home was searched by PSNI officers following an operation by police in Birmingham.
One of the film clips he admitted downloading was of the second most serious category in terms of indecency.
After he was charged he was attacked by three masked men, and had to flee from his home.
Goligher was also ordered to serve three years on probation when he is released, and was banned from access to computers and unsupervised access to children.
