Sex abuser jailed indefinitely

PAEDOPHILE who sexually abused a young boy at a Hayling Island holiday camp has been jailed.

Depraved Peter Lester was caught when the 10-year-old told his mum about the abuse he suffered at Mill Rythe Holiday Resort in February 2008.

Lester, who was jailed for nearly eight years in 1999 for sexually abusing young boys, was arrested and his home searched.

Officers found more than 200 indecent images of children – some of which depicted children being tortured and abused.

When Lester, 55, was questioned by police he denied sexually assaulting the young boy but he admitted downloading child porn. He was released on bail pending further investigations in June 2008.

But in August police returned to his home in Margate, Kent, and discovered more indecent images of children.

At Portsmouth Crown Court, Lester was jailed indefinitely.

Judge Graham White imposed a sentence of Imprisonment for Public Protection and said Lester could not be considered for release for two years.

He could remain behind bars for the rest of his life.

The 220 days that Lester has spent in prison in the meantime will count towards the sentence.

Police said Lester learned how to use a computer while in prison serving his first sentence for child abuse.

Detective Constable Jenny Weaver, from Havant police, said: ‘Lester did inform me in interview that he had learned how to use a computer whilst in prison. But obviously not all prisoners will turn the new skill towards crime.’

When he is released Lester will remain on licence for the rest of his life. He will also remain on the sex offenders register for the rest of his life.

This means he has to tell police where he is living at all times and has to inform officers if he changes his name.

Lester admitted sexual activity with a child and 26 counts of possessing indecent images of children.
