A MAN who had sex with a girl less than half his age was jailed for three years.
Mark Nuttall was told by Judge Bryn Holloway: “This was a particularly serious offence because society has always sought to protect young girls often to protect them from their own wishes.”
Liverpool Crown Court heard Nuttall was 30 when he slept with the “besotted” 14-year-old girl and he had not used any protection.
Nuttall, who has an “appalling” record for dishonesty, had only just been released from jail before the May 30, 2010, incident.
Paul Becker, prosecuting, said Nuttall, of no fixed address but formerly of St Helens, had started a relationship with the child a week before. He pleaded guilty to sexual activity with a child and will have to sign the Sex Offenders Register for life.
