A paedophile who committed “vile sexual acts of abject depravity” on two young girls has been jailed for eight years.
Norman Armond, 67, of Trinity Road, Rayleigh, admitted 17 charges including indecent assault and taking and possessing indecent photographs of a child.
The charges relate to the sexual abuse of two girls over more than two years which started when they were both under the age of 15.
Det Sgt Stuart Smith, of the Rayleigh child protection unit, who investigated the case, said: “The videos and images he made were sickening and shocking.”
Armond was caught when police raided his home on other matters in February and saw him try to hide a digital camera. Police confiscated it and found a series of indecent images on it.
John Butcher, prosecuting, told Basildon Crown Court police found 18 home-made videos and a catalogue of photographs of the young girls performing sexual acts.
Basil Hillman, mitigating, said Armond was extremely shameful and remorseful.
Armond gave a sharp intake of breath as he was sentenced to a total of eight years in prison. He will also be placed on the sex offenders’ register indefinitely.
