A paedophile from Basildon who raped a young boy must be locked away for a very long time, says the youngster’s anguished mother.
She described Graham Ambrose, 39, as a monster after he was found guilty of raping and indecently assaulting her son, who is now nine years old.
As Ambrose was led down to the cells at Basildon Crown Court yesterday, she said: “I am glad it is all over. I am not surprised at the jury verdict. He is a monster and I want to see him go to prison for a long time.
“My son has not been well while this trial has been going on and I’m worried how he will cope.”
After six days of evidence the jury took just three hours and 15 minutes to find Ambrose, of Wickhay, Basildon, guilty on the two counts against the boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons.
But they also found him not guilty on four counts of indecent assault, two against a girl, now aged seven and two against the boy.
Ambrose, who had convictions for indecent exposure as a teenager, stumbled and collapsed in the dock when the verdicts were read out.
The jury heard that the offences happened between July 1995 and December 2000 in Basildon when the boy was aged between two and eight years old.
They were told that Ambrose, who regularly drank heavily and was unemployed, attacked the boy when his mother was out of the house.
