Child porn browser spared jail

A MAN who downloaded images of child pornography from the internet did it because he was addicted to surfing the internet.

Aylesbury Crown Court was told on Tuesday the culprit, who has legally changed his name to Longbird Concept – a type of briefcase – had more than 864 indecent images on his computer when police searched his home in Paddock Woods in Marlow last year.

Concept, 35, was trapped as a result of Operation Ore when American police hacked into a child porn website and discovered credit card details of people who had accessed the images. The information was passed to British police who searched Concept’s house.

In interview he said he did not know why the images were on his computer but agreed he visited certain sites.

Concept was described in court has having an “almost addictive personality” spending hours on the web daily.

“He has asked me to express his disgust at those who abuse children,” said Matthew Bourne, defending.

Judge Connor said “The offences themselves call for a custodial sentence” but spared Concept prison after hearing he would be “at significant risk of self-harm”.

He had previously pleaded guilty to four charges of making child pornography and eight of possessing the images.

Concept was handed a two-year-suspended four-month prison sentence. He was placed on the sex offenders’ register for seven years and ordered to pay costs of £334.
