Child porn collection man jailed

A remote control car dealer has been jailed for eight months after child pornography was found on his computer.

Derby Crown Court heard Sydney Evans’ held images which showed sexual activity between children and adults.

Evans, 51, was told by Judge John Wait that although he had accessed the sites out of “curiosity”, his actions had helped contribute to a “filthy trade”.

Evans, of Linton, Swadlincote, pleaded guilty to three specimen charges of possessing indecent photos of children.

Catherine Bacon, prosecuting, said Evans had been arrested in July 2003 after his details were found by American investigators looking into Landslide Productions.

Ms Bacon said Evans had paid to access a child pornography site in 1999.

Derbyshire Police seized his computer, and an investigation revealed 270 images, with 165 being classified as “erotic poses” and 64 depicting “obscene images with adults”, including several involving babies.

In an interview, Evans denied knowingly subscribing to the site, but said he had “clicked through” from adult porn sites out of curiosity.

The judge ordered a three-year supervision period after his release, and placed him on the Sex Offenders Register for 10 years.
