Agent caught with extreme pornography

A man widely named as the Army’s notorious IRA agent Stakeknife has avoided prison after admitting two counts of possessing extreme pornography.

Freddie Scappaticci, 72, appeared briefly before Westminster magistrates in central London to admit the charges, which related to at least 329 images, including those involving animals.

Wearing a blue fleece and green tracksuit bottoms, Scappaticci spoke with an Irish accent to enter his pleas to the charges.

Chief magistrate Emma Arbuthnot sentenced Scappaticci to three months in custody, suspended for 12 months.

The magistrate said: “You have not been before the court for 50 years – and that’s good character in my book.

“I can see you are not a well man at all – you have very serious health issues – and that you live a lonely life.”

Scappaticci has always strongly denied claims that he is Stakeknife, a high-ranking military mole who reputedly led the republican organisation’s “nutting squad”, an internal security unit which interrogated and murdered suspected spies during the Northern Ireland conflict.

He was arrested by police in January about offences including murder and abduction but was released on bail.

Westminster Magistrates’ Court heard Scappaticci told police he was not sexually interested in animals, and preferred women with big breasts.

He told them he was “not doing anyone any real harm” and said he had depression.

The court heard he used his laptop to search for areas of interests, including “cars, the British Army, maps, combat, football, politics”, but that he also searched for pornography.

He conducted a number of searches on a total of 13 different days between November 2015 and January 2018.

Scappaticci was ordered to pay a £100 victim surcharge and £85 costs.

He was convicted after material was seized as part of Operation Kenova, the wide-ranging investigation which was launched in June 2016 to investigate allegations of serious criminal activity during The Troubles.

Paedophile RAF Cosford medic fails to get sentence cut

An RAF Cosford medic who preyed on young children online deserved every day of his sentence, top judges have said.

Luke Childs, 30, was stationed at RAF Cosford when military police arrested him in February last year.

The senior aircraftman had been trying to meet up with a 14-year-old girl after grooming her online.

Following his arrest, his computer was seized and a catalogue of other sex crimes against young children was revealed.

Childs had spent almost two years contacting children online and trying to meet up with them for sex. He sent them explicit photos and got them to perform sex acts.

When analysed, his computer was found to contain 1,600 images depicting the most serious forms of child abuse, as well as other extreme pornography.

Childs admitted an attraction to children and was sentenced to seven years custody, with another four on extended licence, by a military court in October last year.

He appealed, claiming the sentence was too long, despite the fact he had been assessed as a “dangerous offender”.

But senior judges at the Court of Appeal in London rejected his challenge to the sentence.

Lady Justice Hallett said Childs had been frustrated in his career because, despite joining the RAF as a medic, he was held in the admin corps.

He confessed that he was sexually attracted to children and that he needed help to make sure he does not offend again.

Dismissing his appeal, the appeal judge said the court martial was entitled to find that an “extended sentence” was needed to protect children from Childs.

“He must appreciate that the offending he commits causes immeasurable harm to his child victims,” she said. “His offending stretched over a period of nearly two years and it was escalating at the time he was caught.”

She dismissed his appeal and upheld the sentence.

Childs had admitted 25 crimes, including multiple counts of trying to meet a child after grooming.

Victim of twisted paedophile who fled to Spain reveals how long wait for justice ruined her life

The victim of a twisted paedophile who fled to Spain revealed how the long wait for justice ruined her life.

Former nightclub owner Alan Hollis repeatedly raped the woman when she was a little girl in Merseyside in the 1970s.

The 70-year-old, who ran Rumford’s Coach House, in Rumford Place, was arrested after she contacted police in 1996.

He was bailed to appear at Liverpool Magistrates’ Court on the condition he surrender his passport, but fled the country.

The violent pervert was caught at Gatwick Airport as he attempted to fly to Florida in 2007 and dragged back to Liverpool.

Inexplicably, magistrates again granted him bail, on the same condition that he surrender his passport and provide a surety.

He escaped to Spain using a fake passport, where Merseyside Police discovered he was living under a false name in Malaga.

Spanish officers captured Hollis, from Kirkby, in March last year and he was extradited back to the UK to finally face justice.

His victim told Liverpool Crown Court the abuse “had a negative effect on me my whole life” and she “went off the rails”.

She said: “When I told the police about what had happened in 1996, I felt a range of emotions and relief that I was giving myself the opportunity to get it out in the open and have some closure.

“I knew he was arrested and charged with the things he did to me, but then I was told by police that he didn’t turn up at court, and that he had left his house.

“I couldn’t believe it, but there was nothing I could do, so I just locked it all away again and tried my best not to think about it.

“In 2007 I was again told that he had been arrested and all the feelings and emotions came flooding back again.

“To be again told that he had again failed to attend court was so hard to deal with.”

Hollis, who also worked as a private detective, abused his victim from when she was aged just four.

The woman told the court she later turned to binge drinking and taking drugs to cope with her anguish.

She said: “When officers came to my house this year to tell me Hollis had been arrested I fell to the floor, I was hysterical and shaking.

“The feelings again came flooding back – I really need this to come to an end.

“Sometimes over the years I have wished that he would die of natural causes, hoping that it would give me some peace knowing he wasn’t here.

“But then I feel that would be too nice a thing to happen for what he did to me and the torment I have experienced my whole life.”

Hollis was violent to his victim, made her masturbate him, perform sex acts and forced her to watch porn.

She said: “I truly believe if he hadn’t done those things to me, I would have taken a different path in life.

“Although I have done my best to lock it away and not think about it, I have daily reminders and it never goes away.”

The woman, who suffers with anxiety, panic attacks and depression, has now started counselling.

She said: “I think that because I know he is now in custody, I can now allow myself to open up about it.

“For years I feel like I have been in limbo, like my life has been on hold. I hate him passionately for what he did to me and for running away.

“It’s something I just live with. It will never ever go away, it will live with me forever.”

Hollis was jailed for 15 years and nine months, after admitting rape and six counts of indecent assault.

Judge Denis Watson, QC, said the victim’s statement revealed the “severe psychological harm” he caused.

He said: “It is a sample of the horrific impact, the life-changing impact, that your offending has had on her.”

As the brave victim cried in court, the judge added: “She has been waiting since 1996 to hear you say you’re guilty.”

Hollis was deemed an offender of particular concern, which means he will serve an additional year on licence when freed.

He will spend at least half of the term behind bars, but only be released early if a parole board deems it safe.

Hollis must sign on the Sex Offenders Register for life and comply with an indefinite restraining order.

A paedophile has been jailed for 14 years for ‘appalling’ sex offences which began when his victim was just four.

Roger Campbell, 44, began the catalogue of abuse against the girl back in 1986 when he was only 13.

He carried out a series of disgusting assaults in the kitchen and cellar of his victim’s home while her parents were out.

Campbell also sexually abused two 14 year-old girls who he groomed during visits to his home

Paedophile groomed and abused young girl

A paedophile who used sweets and cash to ‘prostitute’ a girl from the age of six has been jailed for 17 years.

Robert Price, 54, groomed the child with gifts while looking after her in the early 90s.

Judge Michael Simon told the pervert: ‘This in particular made her feel special and through this you gained her trust, enough that the next phase could proceed. ‘It was during this period of time that the real grooming commenced.’
