Vile sex beast raped school girl after forcing her into vodka drinking game

A vile sex predator who plied an underage girl with vodka until she was vomiting and passing out before raping her was jailed for more than 10 years today.

Bryan Wilson, 41, encouraged his victim to take part in a “drinking competition” before sexually assaulting the 15-year-old.

Wilson had earlier subjected an adult woman to repeated attacks and rapes and ill-treated a girl.

A judge told him at the High Court in Edinburgh: “You stand convicted of multiple rapes, assaults and cruelty to a child.”

Lady Poole said: “It is quite clear the impact of your offending has been devastating and has had long-term consequences.”

The judge told Wilson, who has a lengthy criminal record including for serious assault and attempted murder, that the offences were “despicable”.

Lady Poole jailed him for a total of 10 years and four months and ordered that he should be kept under supervision on licence for a further four years.

Unemployed Wilson earlier admitted two rape charges, an assault and a child cruelty charge all committed in his former home city of Dundee.

The offences occurred between 2009 and last year.

Wilson raped the teenager on May 30 last year when she was so intoxicated that she was incapable of giving or withholding consent.

Advocate depute Derick Nelson told the court: “The accused dared the complainer to drink vodka mixed with Tango orange, telling her it was a drinking competition.”

“At first she said she did not want to drink, but the accused kept encouraging her and eventually she agreed to drink,” he said.

Mr Nelson said they shared a large bottle of vodka with the girl having about eight glasses.

“She felt heavily intoxicated and dizzy as a result of the alcohol she had consumed.

“The complainer tried to get up, but kept falling over,” said the prosecutor.

Wilson suggested to the girl that she should sit on his knee and offered to adjust an uncomfortable bra strap.

Mr Nelson said: “By this stage the complainer was repeatedly vomiting and having intermittent periods where she blacked out due to excessive alcohol consumption.”

Wilson took off the girl’s bra and although she did not remember him removing a T-shirt she recalled being half naked.

The prosecutor said: “He then either tripped her up or she fell to the floor due to being intoxicated and bumped her head, causing an injury to her right temple and eye area.”

The teenager was on the floor on her hands and knees and was sick when she became aware of Wilson behind her before he subjected her to a painful rape.

Mr Nelson said she asked him to stop but Wilson did not acknowledge her.

The girl blacked out again and later came to in a bed at the house.

When the victim’s mother later realised what had happened she drove her daughter to a police station in Dundee.

Wilson also assaulted and raped a 32-year-old woman at addresses in Dundee and subjected a child to ill-treatment from the age of four.

During the abuse of the youngster he slapped and pushed her and shouted and swore at her. He also sent her a picture of one of her teddies with a knife through it, which distressed the child.

He said: “He accepts and appreciates that his behaviour was unacceptable.” Mr Renucci said Wilson now recognised the harm and effect of his actions and apologised.

He said Wilson was previously assessed as having a low IQ and had experienced anger management problems.

Wilson, who followed the sentencing proceedings from jail via a video link, was placed on the sex offenders’ register indefinitely

William Meek – Dundee

May 2021

‘Sweaty’ Scots paedo jailed for 10 months

A sweaty Dundee paedo has been jailed for ten months after social workers blasted him as “unmanageable” when he twice breached bail conditions.

Even William Meek’s own solicitor said the report on his client was one of the worst he had seen in 30 years as a practising court lawyer.

Meek, of Polepark Road, Dundee, had originally been freed into the community after a paedo hunter group exposed him for trying to meet a 13-year-old girl for sex.

Dundee Sheriff Court heard previously how Meek began “sweating profusely” when he realised he had been duped in an elaborate sting operation.

The 48-year-old was rushed to hospital with heart palpitations after being confronted.

He previously admitted grooming and two months ago was placed on the Sex Offenders Register and placed under supervision for three years.

He was also made the subject of a conduct requirement placing severe restrictions on his use of the internet and social network applications.

But he was back in the dock today after it was found he broke bail conditions just within days of his release from court.

Sheriff Alistair Carmichael recalled the original order against Meek and jailed him for ten months, after telling him he couldn’t be trusted in the community.

Meek admitted two charges of breaching bail – including trying to hide a secret phone down a sofa in front of police officers.

Solicitor Douglas Thomson, defending, said: “It seems clear he is a man who has had the opportunity to misbehave.”

Earlier this year, the court heard Meek had arranged to meet ‘Paige’ who he believed to be a 13-year-old girl he had met through the Tagged app, at the Seagate bus station in Dundee.

He told the teen he would bring condoms so they could have sex but was unaware her profile had been set up as a trap by Groom Resisters Scotland.

Instead of the underage youngster Meek was confronted by an adult couple who live streamed the meeting and his confession on the internet.

Fiscal depute Gavin Burton told the court: “Tagged is an online dating and chat app. The group set up a profile in the name Paige.

“An image of a young female was posted with a mobile number.”

Shortly after it was set up, a message arrived from Meek, who admitted he was 47.

‘Paige’ told him she was 13, and lived with her mum in Perth.

She repeated her age several times but it did not deter Meek from engaging in sexual conversation with her.

Meek suggested meeting for dinner and to have a “kiss and cuddle” and told her to lie to her mother so she could come to his home and stay with him.

“He told her to say she was staying with a friend. He said they could have a full-on relationship.”

Meek told her: “A full-on relationship is when you have sex and make a baby together.”

However, when ‘Paige’ said she was worried about getting pregnant, Meek told her that he had condoms and would bring them with him when they met.

He told her it would be “proper love” and said her mother “would not know if they were to make love which was part of growing up.”

Meek was waiting at the bus station when he was confronted and filmed by the duo from the vigilante group and initially denied he planned to meet a child for sex.

“When he was challenged he accepted he was there to meet her and that it was wrong,” Mr Burton told the court. “

He said he suffered heart palpitations.

“Police were called and shown the messages. The accused was sweating profusely. He told them he had a heart condition and suffered from palpitations.

“An ambulance was summoned and he was taken to Ninewells Hospital.” He was later released and arrested.

Meek admitted that between 7 and 14 July 2019 he sent written sexual communications to a person he believed to be a child.

He admitted that on 14 July he travelled to Seagate Bus Station with the intention of meeting a child and engaging in unlawful sexual activity.

Sweat-soaked Dundee pervert was rushed to Ninewells after paedo hunter confrontation

A man who travelled to Dundee’s bus station in the hope of having sex with a child, only to be stung by paedo hunters, has been spared a prison sentence.

William Meek thought he had been exchanging social media messages with a girl called Paige in July 2019.

Using Tagged and WhatsApp, the 48-year-old had sent numerous messages to the person, who he thought was a 13-year-old, including asking if she wanted to “make love”.

However, Meek was unaware he was actually speaking to a man from Groom Resisters Scotland, a group which aims to weed out adults trying to meet children for sexual activity.

A sweat-soaked Meek had to be rushed to Ninewells Hospital after he claimed to be having heart palpitations while being confronted by the group. The incident was live-streamed and chat logs were handed over to the police.

Meek, of Polepark Road, Dundee, was placed on a community payback order after previously pleading guilty at Dundee Sheriff Court to trying to meet a child for sexual activity and communicating indecently.

Meek, who has learning difficulties, also admitted breaching his bail conditions by having multiple electronic devices capable of accessing the internet.

Prosecutor Gavin Burton said Meek initially sent a message to the child’s fake profile on Tagged asking if she would like to meet.

He later encouraged the girl to lie to her mother about staying with a friend so that they could have a “kiss and cuddle”.

Mr Burton previously told the court: “The accused said that he wanted a full-on relationship.

“The accused said that a full-on relationship is when you have sex and make a baby together.

“The accused sent a series of messages saying that she would not get in trouble and would be safe with him.

“He said that her mother would not know.”

Members of Groom Resisters Scotland caught up with Meek at around 8pm on July 14 where he initially denied arranging to meet a child, but later admitted that he was, adding that it was “wrong.”

Meek was later taken to hospital following his heart complaints and was arrested after being discharged at 11.35pm.

After initially being released on bail, two separate police visits found Meek was in possession of devices when he was not supposed to be. He tried to hide a phone in an armchair after one visit.

Meek pled guilty on indictment to attempting to communicate indecently with a child he believed was called Paige through social media messaging between July 7 and 14 2019.

On July 14 2019, Meek travelled to Seagate bus station with the intention of meeting a child and engaging in unlawful sexual activity.

He also admitted possessing the devices at addresses at his home and at an address on Orchardgate, Cupar, in November 2019 and July 2020 respectively.

Solicitor Douglas Thomson said: “Since his release from a period on remand he has kept himself free from any similar offending. He’s been very isolated in the community and he needs structure in his life.”

Sheriff Alastair Carmichael imposed a three-year order on Meek comprising of supervision, mental health treatment and a number of restrictions on his internet usage.

He told Meek: “It’s very serious stuff. All of what you did was very bad. In these very unusual circumstances, I am going to go down the route of imposing a community payback order.”

Meek was also placed on the sex offenders register for three years.

Broughty Ferry lollipop man who kissed and groped child while on duty dodges prison

A lollipop man who kissed and groped a child in a primary school shed while on duty has dodged a prison sentence.

Harry Buick, 80, repeatedly kissed the 10-year-old girl on the mouth on various occasions between April 19-26 2010.

The pensioner carried out the attacks while he was employed as a school crossing patroller.

Buick is now banned from leaving his home after 7pm after previously pleading guilty to the offence at the city’s sheriff court.

Sheriff John Rafferty said Buick’s deteriorating health and his lack of offending were the primary factors in sparing him a prison sentence.

Buick, of Forthill Drive, Broughty Ferry, pleaded guilty to using lewd, indecent and libidinous practices and behaviour towards the child on various occasions in a shed within the grounds of a primary school in Dundee.

The pensioner admitted cuddling the child, rubbing her arms with his hands, placing his hands on her hips, pulling her between her legs and repeatedly kissing her on the mouth.

Buick returned to the dock for sentencing following the preparation of social work reports.

Defence solicitor Ross Donnelly conceded that Buick had minimised his actions during his social work interview.

However, he urged Sheriff Rafferty to impose a community-based order as an alternative to a prison sentence.

Mr Donnelly said: “I think it’s fair to say there’s an element of minimisation. I think what he was eager to get across was that he did not consider himself to have any sinister intent.

“He was quite clear that he accepts it was completely unacceptable behaviour towards a child. He understands why the matter is being dealt with as seriously as it is by the court.

“He has no previous history of offending and has not come to the attention of the authorities since this incident.”

Sheriff Rafferty placed Buick on a community payback order with 12 months of supervision and a restriction of liberty order which will keep him indoors between 7pm and 7am for the next nine months.

“There are a number of reasons why an offence of this nature may result in a custodial disposal,” the sheriff said.

“Perhaps the most significant point is to deter others who may be inclined to behave in this manner.

“Behave in a manner that’s lewd, indecent and libidinous towards a girl aged 10 and conduct in this case was by somebody who was in a position of some trust.

“I also take into account that this matter was resolved without evidence being heard and, particularly, I take into account your present ailments including being diagnosed with Parkinson’s.”

Buick was also placed on the sex offender’s register for five years.

Leading royal and a relative of the Queen jailed for sexual assault

A leading Scottish earl has been sentenced to 10 months imprisonment for sexually assaulting a woman at his hereditary fort in Angus, Scotland.

The sexual assault occurred during an event Simon Bowes-Lyon was hosting at Glamis Castle on February 12, 2020.

According to information that emerged during the trial at Dundee Sheriff Court, the earl sneaked into the 26-year-old sleeping woman’s room and tried to pull off her nightdress.

Ignoring the victim’s pleas, the 34 year old Earl of Strathmore, assaulted his victim for 20 minutes.

Admitting the sexual assault, the offender confessed to be “drunk to excess” on the night of the assault.

The woman escaped the castle the next morning and reported the matter to police immediately.

The presiding judge, Sheriff Alastair Carmichael, told Bowes-Lyon that even after a year, his victim still suffers from dreadful nightmares as a result of his sexual assault.

The judge asserted that the woman (who remains anonymous) still feels panicked in every day settings before adding that the ordeal has also had a devastating “impact on her emotional wellbeing.”

In passing sentence (10 months jail time), Sheriff Carmichael said the punishment “must reflect the gravity of the crime” and that a community sentence “would not meet these requirements”.

In addition to the prison sentence, Bowes-Lyon was also placed on the sex offenders register for 10 years.

Bowes-Lyon is a great-great nephew of the Queen Mother and a son of a cousin of Queen Elizabeth II. Glamis Castle, near Forfar, has been the seat of the Bowes-Lyon family since the late 14th century.

November 2020

Teenager found guilty of raping 16-year-old girl in South Road Park in Dundee

A teenager has been found guilty of raping a 16-year-old girl under a tree in a park in Dundee.

Kevin Reid, 18, had denied carrying out the assault at South Road Park on November 17 last year.

However, a jury at the High Court in Livingston returned a majority verdict and convicted him of rape.

Reid was cleared of three further rapes and two sexual assaults by penetration involving three other young girls after ‘not proven’ verdicts.

Reid had claimed the complainers had conspired to get him into trouble by lying and read from a text message in which one of the girls threatened to “ruin” his life.

The jury heard evidence from the girl he was convicted of raping – who can’t be named for legal reasons – that she had been drinking heavily on the evening of the attack.

She said Reid repeatedly tried to hug her at a house party and told her things like: “Oh you’re so pretty. I want to sleep with you.”

After they parted company with other friends he started walking home with her.

But at the park he led her under a tree and sexually assaulted her on the grass.

She told the court: “Kevin was complaining about his hands being cold. He kept touching me on the leg and tried to roll on top of me.”

She said he put his hand down her trousers and asked to have sex with her, which she refused.

She said: “I tried to move his hand. I asked him to stop and he didn’t stop. I was scared.”

The girl said Reid then held her by the back of her neck and forced her into performing a sex act on him.

She tried to phone a female friend for help, but had the wrong number for her – and then her phone ran out of battery.

She told the jury: “I was crying quite a lot. I spoke to someone as soon as I got in.”

Reid flatly denied being at the park with the girl but DNA evidence from under the accused’s fingernails and a saliva swab from the girl’s neck where he had given her a “hickey” or “love bite” provided corroboration for the attack.

Sentence on the first offender was deferred for reports.

In addition to having his name added to the sex offenders register, details of Reid’s conviction will be notified to Scottish Ministers under Protection of Vulnerable Groups laws.
